From Janette's Desk
=============================================
We sure had a great time on the 4th of July. I know we have many
readers
that are outside the US, but I'm sure everyone has heard of our
Independence
Day.
The City of Beaumont really knows how to throw a party.. and it was all
free.
We took our chairs out to the park with a small cooler filled with drinks
and
fresh fruit, and some chocolate..
The pool was open for the kids starting at noon, and at 5pm a local
band played. They are versatile and play a lot of different hits.
At 7pm Air Supply came on stage, and performed a fantastic show.
They played their hits, "All out of Love", "Even the Nights are Better"
‘Lost in Love’,
‘The One That You Love’, ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘Making Love Out of Nothing at
All’
to mention a few.
And the 30 minutes of fireworks were spectacular.
Jeff and I are big-city raised, so this small town celebration is really
fun
for us. We stayed home on 4th of July because it was just so crowded.
So I hope you are all having a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Janette

Pearls of Wisdom

What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual
state of inelegance. - Jane Austen
=============================================
Today's Challenge
=============================================
Is the weather sweltering? It is here. Do you know someone that
lives alone, is lonely, or could use some cheer?
Make a visit and bring popsicles. They come in sugar free, too!
Clean range top and knobs. You may need to soak knobs in
warm, soapy water.

I have a situation where a tenant has burned candles leaving the
ceilings/walls blackish in those areas. Does anyone know of a
way to get that off without completely repainting the whole
room?? Will washing remove it - or just smear it? Is there any
certain cleaner that works best without harming the paint?
Thanks! Dorothy, Iowa

Daily Word by Pastor Jeff

=============================================
"Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother.
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien
or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother.'" Zec 7:9-10
God's requirements of His children is really quite simple. "Love your
neighbor as yourself." That is what He is saying he re through the prophet
Zechariah. God was requiring it of His people then, and He requires it
now. Such a simple command, yet so hard to follow. The problem lies
with us. We tend to want to go our own way. That way usually fulfills
our own desires. The phrase "Whatever turns you on" frequently enters
our mind. Stop! Ask yourself (and require an honest answer!) why you
do the things you do. Most often, we find that we do them because we
want to -- because it makes us feel good -- because it serves our
needs! Even when we do good, it is often for those very reasons.
Now don't get me wrong, we shouldn't stop doing good. Instead,
we should begin to put others before ourselves -- in a real sense,
that is what compassion is. This weekend, let each of us find some
way to show compassion on someone less fortunate than ourselves.
Be creative. You can think of something! Oh, by the way, if it makes
you feel good at the same time -- that's OK, God intended it to work
like that! Hallelujah, Amen

N-o-w may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus
from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the
blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in
every good work to do His will, working in you what is well
pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be
glory forever and ever. Amen.Hebrews 13:20-21 (NKJV)
